ICMR Task Force Meeting

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has formed a task force on Fluorosis to look at key research issues on which action needs to be taken. The first meeting of this task force took place on October 21, 2013.

Prime among the activities discussed were:

  • A study on Dental Fluorosis being conducted at PGI, Chandigarh and Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi. The purpose of this study is to develop a simplified Dental Fluorosis Index with mild, medium and severe levels of indices. This index can then be used for a nationwide survey of Dental Fluorosis
  • The task force working towards capacity building of Medical Doctors and students of Medical Colleges.
  • A interventional prevention multicentre study to be developed for Nutritional supplementation and dietary diversification

This task force will have a further meeting on December 2, 2013, where these above points will be further discussed for finalization
